The Night of Steel, a gala event benefitting the Crohn\u2019s & Colitis Foundation is an incredible event that helps fight to end IBD. The Crohn\u2019s & Colitis Foundation is one I\u2019ve personally benefitted from, and I hope to continue to contribute to the work they do for some time to come. I deeply appreciate the work of the foundation, and the community of doctors, nurses, and advocates working for a cure! It felt befitting to create a piece filled with love for the event auction.<\/p>\n

I was diagnosed with Crohn\u2019s Disease when I was 19 years old. The onset of my symptoms began when I was 12. I\u2019ve had several surgeries and have experienced a medication journey. I firmly believe that the stability and health I have experienced are due in part to science, but also advocacy. The strong team that I work with has both my respect and my trust. I have also learned quite a bit about the disease that has become a lifetime partner of mine. Knowing that I will likely not experience the cure personally, I help work to provide a cure for others. I have been profoundly inspired by the successes and advancements science has brought those with this diagnosis, and I\u2019m thankful for those who came before me as I see the evolution and successes that my own diagnosis and experience are. I am deeply appreciative of those who have dedicated their education, careers, and passion to fighting this battle with those like myself, and hope that stories like my own will inspire others like them.<\/p>\n

Each year I create a custom piece to donate at the gala, complete with a certificate of authenticity. Perhaps you will consider donating to the Crohn\u2019s & Colitis Foundation, and one of these pieces will hold deep meaning to many when in your collection. Pieces such as \u201cHealing Touch\u201d are created using acrylic, watercolor, metallic watercolor, and ink and are sealed with a Liquitex satin varnish.<\/p>\n
