Description
Leading Lady Dr. Helen Patricia Sharman became the first person to travel to space from the United Kingdom, and the first woman to travel to space from the UK. She was the First W. European woman in space, and the first woman to visit Russian Space Station Mir when she traveled as a privately funded astronaut to space aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket in May 1991. Dr. Sharman is considered to be both a British Astronaut and a Cosmonaut, and she is a chemist, an educator, a writer, a speaker, and she has inspired children all over the UK since taking her incredible journey to the stars.
